Manicouagan 2 Hydroelectric dam produces 1,024 MW of power from it's eight generators. This facility is located 22 KM (13-1/2 miles) North of Baie-Comeau. To the left is the spilloway and to the right is the power generating station.

Historically, hydroelectric energy generating in Canada has the lowest cost in the world. That's why it's not surprising that Canada is the world's leader creating over 13% of the world's hydroelectricity. Over 60% of Canada's electricity is produced by hydroelectric generating stations. Quebec Hydro is the market leader of this renewable resource with a 35,190 MW capacity in 2005.

The Highway 389 bridge across the Manicouagan River as the water is released through the turbines or the spillway. This river that runs under this bridge is approximately 560 km (350 miles) long and empties in the St. Lawrence River. The Manicouagan River was once known as the Black River.
