Northern Quebec Hydroelectricity - Hart Jaune

This portion of the Hart Jaune River is near the ghost town of Gagnon. It is also part of the Quebec Hydro Power system. These photographs show the view from each side of the bridge that spans the river. To gauge the size of this river, the tall, slender trees are black spruce; they grow to be about 9 meters (30 feet) tall.

During spring thaw, the river is swollen with rushing water.
