Gagnon Quebec - Airport

Airport

Back when Gagnon was inhabited, there were no roads to the outside world. Therefore, the only means of transportation in and out were railway or airport. Although the terminal and control tower have been demolished, the runway is still in reasonably good shape and used by small, private planes.

Airport

Two planes are parked at Gagnon Airstrip. To the right of the planes you can see the top of our van behind the foundation of what was once the Gagnon Airport Terminal Building.

Airport

The remains of the airport terminal. This building was not destroyed when the town was demolished; however, around the turn of the century, it was knocked down.

Airport

Although jet planes no longer land at this airport, planes in route from North America to Europe often fly overhead leaving a beautiful cloud in the blue sky. Planes from Germany, United Kingdom and The Netherlands that train at Five Wing Goose Bay, Labrador, also fly over this area on training missions.
