Lake Jeannine Flume in 2000

Although trees and shrubs are also taking over what was once the mine site and processing plant, you can still see what is left of the dewatering flume. This structure is made of wood and was lined in rubber. On September 2, 2000, It is in surprisingly good shape and still directs the water to the river shown in the top left of the picture. This flume was built in the early 1960s and was not maintained after 1985 and possibly earlier.

The same flume on June 11, 2001.

Lake Jeannine Estuary

Water from this flume flows into this water system. On both sides of this river are large piles of overburden establishing the borders which lead to a large lake. Hunters and fishermen canoe through this system searching for fish and wild game.

Lake Jeannine Beaver Dam

The pile of rubble in the background is all that now remains of the Gagnon mine processing plant. Since the mine closed, some busy beavers have taken up residence in what was once part of the dewatering system.
