From a distance the piles of overburden (rocks removed to reach the ore) looks small; however, when you compare the size of the van to the height of the pile you can get some idea as to the actual size of these man-made mountains. There are miles of these piles throughout the complex.

Old equipment, which was no longer serviceable, was partially buried when the plant complex's foundation was bulldozed. What you see here is the track section of heavy mine equipment such as shovel or tractor.
