This photo shows the pit floor at the Fire Lake iron ore complex. To get an idea of the size of this mine, the trees at the far side of the mine face are black spruce and are 25 to 30 feet (7 to 9 meters) tall. The pile of rubble on the pit floor are actually large boulders that were too big for a shovel to load into a 100 ton truck. | |
