The French speaking town of Fermont, Quebec, is 17 miles from Labrador City. It is also a mining town. Except for several homes, the rest of the population lives within this windscreen. This building contains apartments, shops, schools, bars, hotel, restaurants, supermarket, and swimming pool. Except to go to work at the mine, technically you would never have to leave this building to live a full life during the seven months of winter.

To the far east across the street from Fermont's windscreen is a gasoline station and other retail businesses. To the right of those buildings is the huge windscreen with the row of brown buildings to the furthest left being more apartments. The white and brown building is Fermont Hotel. The building with red trim is the shopping area; the blue building is the sports arena.
