About an hour and a half after leaving Fermont, you will come to the remains of Fire Lake Mine, an abandoned iron ore mine site which once belonged to Québec Cartier Mining. The unforested areas in the background are man-made mountains. This dirt represents the waste material that was piled during the mine's productive life. The gray to the extreme left is a portion of Highway 389.
