Gagnon

If you travel north of Manic V, the road is a gravel surface. For the uninitiated, at mile marker 394 a paved, divided highway breaks in the wilderness. This divided highway denotes where the former town of Gagnon lay. This paved highway travels north from Gagnon to the mine site at Fire Lake and was used to transport employees of Québec Cartier Mining to and from work.

The photo was taken east of the highway in what had been a former resident's front yard. In the background the narrow ribbon of blacktop is visible.
