Water is abundant in Northern Quebec. Most of the river systems along Highway 389 are funneled into the Manicouagan Hydroelectric system. Hydro Quebec is the largest hydro producing company in the world with over 50 hydroelectric generating stations with an installed capacity exceeding 31,500 MW. They not only supply electricity to Quebec, other parts of Canada, but export power to the USA and technology to many other countries.
