Fall Foliage - Saint Lawrence Seaway   Fall Foliage - Saint Lawrence Seaway

Trees showing late fall foliage along the St. Lawrence Seaway. Since the day was clear, we could see glimpses of the south shore of the Seaway. This 1,300 km (800 mi) river ranges in width from 3 km (2 mi) to 145 km (90 mi) wide at its mouth. When we turn north from the St. Lawrence at Baie-Comeau, the river is 62 km (39 miles) wide. This route is designated The Whale Route or Route des Baleines in French. In the summertime, more than twelve species of whale, including the blue whale, can be seen along the river's shores.
