Moose are native to Labrador; however, they were introduced to Newfoundland in 1878 and 1904. Their experiment was apparently a phenomenal success because there are now 120,000 to 150,000 animals on the island of Newfoundland; that's more moose per square mile than anywhere else in North America. If you plan to abscond with one of these animals, be prepared because they can swim as fast as two men paddling a canoe and run up to 56KM (34 Miles) per hour on land.
