Newfoundland has federal, provincial and local parks. It also has wilderness and ecological reserves and heritage rivers. This section highlights a few parks we particularly enjoy which are listed to the left in navigation.

fourteen Provincial Parks located throughout Newfoundland and southern Labrador where one can camp overnight

six scenic attractions where camping is not allowed

eighteen ecological preserves
- thirty-two Canadian Heritage Rivers System to conserve and protect the best examples of Canada's river heritage, to give special rivers national recognition, and to encourage the public to enjoy and appreciate them. Seven more are nominated for this distinction.
- eight Provincial parks and wilderness or ecological reserves have interpreters and/or interpretive centers to learn more about the natural wonders located at that site.
- two Federal parks: Gros Morne National Park and Terra Nova National Park.
- UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) has thirteen sites in Canada. Two are in Newfoundland Labrador: L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site & Gros Morne National Park
