La Manche Provincial Park - Trail 1

Click on Photos for larger view.

The East Coast Hiking Trail snakes around and through La Manche Provincial Park. When the trail is completed, it will encompass the Avalon Peninsula: approximately 450 km (280 miles). These paths are extremely beautiful, but quite unique by their various textures and surfaces. There's everything from boardwalk to mud, gravel to grass and lots of rock in various shapes and sizes. There are very few level places; approximately half the trail is 12% or greater incline. We won't tell you if we huffed and puffed going uphill or not.... well at least we didn't huff and puff loud enough to scare too many of the resident wildlife.
