The blue-green of the ocean provide a stark contrast to the granite shoreline. That is not a reflection in the water, the water is so clear you can see many meters through the water.

Caplin's Cove was settled in the 1700s. The 1836 census reported 44 people residing in this community. The census of 1936 reported the population had grown to 202. By 1980, this town boasted of twenty-two full-time fishermen employed in 6 crews. Each fishing season, they caught 11,000 pounds of cod per week... and that's not a fishy story! The census of 1996 depicted the population was 135.
The town was probably named for the large body of capelin living in the nearby waters.
