The 2006 census showed the year-round population as 794 with the main population between ages of 25 and 54. The population swells during the summer when many people from Canada and the USA enjoy their summer homes and the cool weather in this quaint village. The major attraction at Brigus is the annual Blueberry Festival which brings from 12,000 to 13,000 visitors from all over the world. One bit of advice: if you plan to attend the festival, take a taxi or have somebody drive you - or get up very, very early. It's not unusual to see cars parked miles from the event.
