Brigus Hills and Countryside 1

Another name for Newfoundland is "The Rock." It's easy to see how the nickname is appropriate when you view the granite hills and mountains at Brigus. It's easy to see why 4-wheelers and snowmobiles are popular on this island.

In the top, left photo, there is a big rock on top of the natural rock breakers. This rock is about the size of a Volkswagen Beetle. This gives some idea of the power of the sea: to be able to toss a rock this large upon the top of a natural breakwater. This rock has been there as long as Gary remembers.
