These granite cliffs tower about 200 feet (120 m) above sea level. From where we took these photos, the road has a steep incline leading to the town proper.

Although it is late May, there is still snow on the cliffs near Bay de Verde. An earlier name for this town is 'Bay of Arbs'.

This photo was taken in late May, 2007. Bay de Verde is a picturesque town on the Avalon Peninsula located about a three-hour drive from the capital of St. John's. The town was founded in 1662 and was incorporated in 1950.

Bay de Verde is nestled on the very tip of the peninsula designated as the Baccalieu Trail. Please note the two churches dominate the landscape. The town has a population of 470.

It would not be a good idea to look over the edges of these cliffs if you suffer from vertigo.
