Smokey Mountain Downhill Ski and Snowboard Facility was started by IOCC in 1959 with a rope tow. It currently has eighteen separate trails with one double chair lift and three Poma lifts. The longest run is 4,200 ft (1280 m) with a vertical drop of 1,000 ft. (305 M) For those who might like night skiing, the main slopes are lighted. Although it is hard to believe, the club even owns a snow-making machine, in the unlikely event that there is a winter where we have less then our average of fourteen feet (4.2 m) of the white stuff. The slopes are patrolled by the Canadian Ski Patrol. In 2002, the annual family rate is $636 and a day pass is $25.33 (approximately $18.00 US)
