Pictured here is the senior men's softball field. In the background, please note the soccer nets. Lighting was added in the early 1990s when Labrador City was successful in its bid to host the Newfoundland Softball Championships. In the summertime, dusk is about 10 PM and dark about midnight; thus, the lighting seems a bit redundant. However, that is a requirement of the Newfoundland Softball Association for fields hosting the championship. In 1966, the team representing Labrador City won the men's provincial fast-pitch softball tournament and represented the province in national finals.
