In Labrador, spring is NOT daffodils, crocuses or lilacs; spring looks like it needs cleaned with summer rains. In winter, dirt, pollution and sand become embedded between the layers of snow. During the spring thaw, all the collected dirt ends up on sidewalks, lawns, and roadways. The dirt acts as insulation; thus, snow buried under dirt will remain after most of the pretty white snow has melted. Therefore, spring is not a particularly beautiful time for taking photographs. In another month or six weeks, the snow will finish melting, the town will have removed the sand residue and finally sprigs of green grass will again appear. | |
