A Scoff an' Scuff's Labrador
Life and Times of Labrador West's Pioneers - 4

  1. What is your happiest memory of living in Labrador City?

    1. My happiest memory in Labrador City is when my husband was struck by a train. He was dragged almost a mile and lived to tell the tale. (Her husband worked with the railway.)
    2. We have way too many to itemize; especially births, Christmases, graduations and seven weddings.
    3. I have no idea because there were so many.
    4. Except for recalling tragic plane crashes which took the lives of good friends, and mourning the deaths of my many dogs over the years, being in Labrador City has provided nothing but happy memories of living "the good life".
    5. The births of our grandchildren.

  1. What about Labrador City makes you glad you stayed or left?

    1. We raised our children here. It is a great place to raise a family. When people leave here saying they will never return, and soon return again, it shows the grass is not always greener on the other side.
    2. We stayed and were glad we did because of stability, family and friends.
    3. The school system and a safe place for the children to grow up in.
    4. Where else can you enjoy excellent shopping and dining, a plethora of indoor and outdoor recreational/leisure activities, imported entertainment, unpolluted rivers and lakes, wide open spaces, the Aurora Borealis, and a Northern Residents tax deduction - with no traffic congestion, relatively little crime, no terrorists, no smog, no hurricanes, no earthquakes, no floods and lots of sunshine. Who could ask for anything more?
    5. We liked the town and its friendly people.

  1. What changes would you like to see at Labrador City?

    1. I would like to see the Trans-Labrador Highway 500 paved from Labrador City to Goose Bay.
    2. No response.
    3. No changes.
    4. I'd like to see its role as a supply base (via the Trans-Labrador highway) for coastal/eastern Labrador expanded. Also, there would be more local jobs available if IOCC's supplier headquarters and service/rebuilding facilities were located in Labrador City instead of Sept-Īles.
    5. No response.
