Public Schools in Labrador City include A.P. Low Elementary, Labrador City Collegiate and Menihek High School. The high school accommodates students from both Labrador City and Wabush.

Menihek High School is the newest educational building and houses grades 10 to 12.

In 1967, IOCC paid for a three-day field trip for each student from the 4th through 12th grade and their adult sponsors to attend Expo '67 at Montreal. This field trip was taken 17 years before Labrador City was connected by road to any other part of Canada.

None of the Labrador City schools have a hot lunch program. Thus, school buses drive the children home for lunch and pick them up afterwards. Various high school classes and organizations serve hot dogs or other meals to raise money for extra-curricular activities or as experiments for family living type classes.
