Labrador City was incorporated on June 27, 1961, under the name of Local Improvement District of Labrador City, and the first Appointed Board Members were: Eric Murphy, Chairman; Ralph Mathieson, Vice Chairman; Lester Coombs, Vice Chairman; Paul Penney, Vice Chairman; Karl Hiscock; Ross Kenway and Albert McGrath.

In 1981, Labrador City had its first elected Town Council and those elected members were: Karl Hiscock, Mayor; Alec Snow, Deputy Mayor; Leonard Leyte, Stanley Robinson, Kevin Campbell, Darrel Brenton, Ron Brown, Stephen Michelin, and Stan Jackowski.
