This was Labrador City's original fire department building. Later the fire house was renovated and the town hall was added.
If you check the previous page, you will note the chimneys still stand between the town hall and fire department.
Labrador City is serviced by a volunteer fire department which is located at one end of the Town Hall.
For a town of this size, the fire department is very well equipped with a pump truck, ladder truck, rescue vehicle and jaws of life. The reason for a well equipped fire fighting brigade is because of the remoteness of the town and the ever present dangers associated with mining and forest fires.
Volunteer fire fighters employed by IOCC are permitted to leave work to help fight fires, if their services are required. IOCC also has its own fire truck and ambulance which can be brought to the town site if more emergency vehicles are needed.
Please note the very bored Dalmation. Maybe that's really a "board" Dalmation since he's made from particle board.
