Scully Mine From Across Little Wabush Lake

Scully mine in Western Labrador

Another photo of Scully Mine reflected in the calm water of Little Wabush Lake. Because the smog is lifting almost vertically, there is also very little wind around Wabush Mines at this time. Because homes are not air conditioned windows are left open in the summer. Dust from the mines and tailings is blown through the open windows causing more dusting, especially after Scully Mine's Friday dynamite blast.

At sunset, Scully Mine is reflected in the smooth ice and calm waters of Little Wabush Lake. The calm lake, nestled in a valley is protected from the wind; however, the smog from the processing plant is being driven almost horizontal.
