This limestone home was built in 1907 is surrounded by a 113 tons of concrete replication of the Garden of Eden, complete with Cain, Able and Seth being brought by stork to Adam and Eve. Biblical scenes and political messages are intertwined with vines. Angels protect the home while soldiers appear to be trying to fight their way in. Each door and window is sized differently to keep demons out. The home was built by Mr. Dinsmore and one hired hand. The longest limestone log is 7m (23 ft) long and weighs approximately 23 tons.
The builder and owner, Mr. Samuel Perry Dinsmore, a retired school teacher and Populist politician, and his first wife, are buried in their own tomb in the back yard, pictured to the right. When Debbie was a child you could look through the glass of the coffin lid and see his face.
He defied convention when he married his first wife on horseback. As an octogenarian, he married his second wife, age 20. From this union was born children and his youngest son served as an officer in the Viet Nam conflict and is the only living son of a Civil War veteran.
