For many years, the "heart" of Kensington was the Drug Store.
Business people would have coffee breaks there, students would have a soft drink, and young children would be rewarded for good behavior while shopping by a stop at the Drug Store on the way home.
Good news, sad news and gossip was usually heard here first.
Although the main business was having coffee or a soft drink, you could also purchase school supplies, non-prescription medication, first aid, gifts, magazines, greeting cards, candy and cigarettes.
Although there hadn't been a pharmacist or pharmacy there for decades, it was still called the Drug Store. This building was demolished in 2000.
