Northeast of Stockton, Kansas, stood the remains of a small castle. From what Debbie remembered, the couple that built this home had been a lord and lady-in-waiting to the queen of England. The once lady-in-waiting raised chickens and sold eggs in Stockton. Debbie's maternal grandmother had been acquaintances with the lady and stated she was very friendly and a hard worker. The lord toiled and farmed the soil. At one time the Rooks county newspaper ran a full page article about this castle, the couple, and the situation. These photos were taken in 1965 by Debbie's mother; thus, we presume there is now no reminder of this once stately home. If somebody has more information or photographs, we would love to hear from you.
