A Scoff an' Scuff's Labrador
Sept-Iles Depot and a Train Wreck

Sept-Iles Depot

Sept-Iles Train Depot and rail yard. It was from this train station that materials flowed north to Schefferville and a few years later to Labrador City to aid in the building of the two iron ore mines situated near these towns.

Train Wreck

The weight of iron compounded with the icy conditions are sometimes a recipe for disaster as this Wabush Mine's train wreck shows.

When Wabush Mines created its mining presence in Labrador West, the QNS&L railway line to Sept-Iles was already in place. Instead of establishing its own railway, Wabush Mines negotiated a deal which allowed them to use the Iron Ore Company of Canada's rail line. It has been rumored that the money paid by Wabush Mines to IOCC for the use of the rail line almost covers the maintenance cost of the line.
