Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway Station - Maintenance

The track maintenance train changes rails, welds the connections, and grinds the top of the rails so they will be rough for better traction.

In summer, university students are hired by the QNS&L Railway to work as laborers on these maintenance crews. These crews are housed on special work trains which contain bunkhouses, cafeterias and recreation facilities complete with satellite television.

An empty iron ore train is on its way to Labrador City. Once these cars are loaded with concentrate and/or pellets, they will make the return trip to the shipping terminal located at Sept-Iles, Quebec.
