The spiral feed (undersize from screen) is pumped to a 24-way spiral feed distributor. The three stages of spirals are: (1) rougher (2) cleaner, (3) and recleaner. The picture shown above is of the cleaner spirals.

After the crude ore has been separated by the spirals, the concentrate flows by gravity to the filter pans (shown to the left). After the concentrate slurry flows onto the pan, the excess water is removed. The above pan is twelve feet (3½ m) across.
