equipment at Humphrey Mine

When compared with the photos on the previous page, you'll notice quite a difference in the mine size and shape in two years. The men that drive the heavy equipment in the mine say they have to reorient when they return from vacation because not only has the pit changed, but often the roads have been moved, too.

Would you like to drive a 240 ton truck up and down the ice and snow packed roads in the winter?

Humphrey Mine - A shovel is loading a 240 ton truck with crude iron ore. The black poles are lights for night work and power for the electric shovels.

These shovels are electric. Prior to the weekly blast sequence, all men and equipment must be moved out of the pit as a safety precaution. Considering the size of Humphrey Mine, can you imagine the size and length of the extension cord?
