The photo on the top is the bell crusher while it is crushing a recently dumped load. The photo on the bottom is the bell crusher while it is waiting for the next ore to be dumped. It is called a bell crusher because of the shape.
To get an idea of the magnitude of size, the lighter colored ring around the crusher in the bottom photo to the left is about 12 to 15 feet (3½ to 4½ m) across. This crusher is capable of crushing a rock up to 60 inches (1½ m) in diameter. In less than two minutes 100 tonnes of crude will be reduced to the maximum of eight inches (20 cm). It takes 12 to 15 minutes to dump and crush a full train load (20 cars) of crude ore using this two crusher system.
