The graphic is designed with an Inukshuk (ee-nook-sook) as the central motif. Inukshuk is an Inuit word that literally translated means "stone man that points the way." These rock cairns, often of mammoth proportions, dot the landscape across Northern Canada and are used to guide travelers, fishermen and hunters in the treeless wilderness. Following in this Northern tradition, the Inukshuk Award points to sites of great value.
The Inukshuk is standing on swirling snow before a background of the multi-colored Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights).
