13. Fold in half so the seams are in the inside. This is a good opportunity to iron them flat.

14. Starting next to the hole in the middle of the tree skirt, Lay the edges of the folded binding next to the tree skirt's top. Sew through all layers (backing, batting, top and both layers of binding. Sew 3/8 to 1/2 inch from the raw edges.

15. Continue sewing until you get 3/8 inch from the first corner.

16. Stop 3/8 of an inch from the edge of the tree skirt. Press your machine's reverse to stabilize the stitches. End with the needle OUT of the fabric, turn tree skirt 90°.

17. VERY IMPORTANT STEP. Fold the binding so it makes a straight line AWAY from the tree skirt. The purple line helps show this step.

18. Fold the binding over the unbound part of the quilt leaving the little pleat step 17 created. Have your machine tack by going back and forth.
