Tutorial - Placing Quilt on Frame - 1

Pinning the Backing 1. Pin the backing to the frame. The creases are because the quilt has not been pinned on all four sides. The fabric should be pinned tightly so it does not sag more then a few inches in the middle. The back should be several inches longer and wider than the top.

Placing the Batting 2. Lay the batting on the backing. I lay the batting on a spare bed for at least a day to help remove wrinkles and bunching before putting it on the quilt frame.

Pinning the Backing 3. Lay the quilt top gently on the batting being careful to not get lumps in the batting. Starting in the middle of each of the four sides, pull the fabric TIGHT and pin it to the backing.

Placing the Batting 4. Mark the boarders of the quilt. Make sure the marker or chalk will wash out.
