Quilt Top |
We can quilt your top up to the size of 90 by 124 inches. Best results are obtained using 100% cotton fabric; however, we will quilt poly/cotton blends but the results are not as luxurious. We do not quilt Grandmother's Flower Garden, double-knit, painted or cheater quilts. Cheater quilts are preprinted fabric like gallery item #036 - Duck Fabric. There is a 10% extra fee if the quilt is predominately black or dark. |
Backing |
The backing material you provide needs to be at least four (4) inches larger than the top on all four sides. There is an extra charge to sew the back panels to fit. If the backing is a sheet or cotton sheeting, it is more difficult to needle and the stitches will be larger and less even; therefore, there is a 15% extra charge for quilting poly-cottons, polished cottons or cotton sheeting (on top or back). |
Batting |
We do not quilt fat batting or cotton batting. We have the best success with 100% polyester batting - the stitches come out smaller and more even; they also are easier to launder. |
Binding |
If you prefer, we will bind your quilt for you. We make a double- binding with the fabric grain and miter the corners. You will need to supply ¾ meter for quilts under 60" x 60" and 1 meter for quilts over that size. A hanging sleeve can be attached for wall-quilts; provide 6 inches of backing times the width of the quilt and advise which edge is the top of the quilt. |
Marking |
You may wish to mark your own quilt top or we will mark it for you to enhance its beauty. |
Quilting |
I tend to quilt tight which makes a puffier quilt; however, the finished size of the quilt may be slightly smaller because of the puffiness. Average quilting is 3.5 linear yards of quilting per square foot; if you desire more quilting, there is an additional charge for each linear foot of quilting. |
Deposit |
A 50% deposit will be required before your quilt goes into the frame. Once the quilt is on the frame, the deposit is non-refundable; there is a 20% of total price cancellation fee prior to that time. You'll be notified when the quilt is completed. After notification, you have one month to pay the balance and pick up your quilt. If it is not paid for within a month, the quilt and deposit becomes our property. |
Time | When you pay your deposit, we will give you a receipt for the quilt and deposit; plus the approximate time your quilt will be completed. Quilts will be quilted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Christmas quilts need to be on my list by August 30. |
