This Hearts and Flowers shadow-applique, queen bed quilt (88" x 106") and matching shams (20" x 26") is made from ivory, hot pink, jade and blue 100% cotton. The shadow quilting overlay is 100% cotton voile; which causes the bold shades to appear pastel. The backing is ivory cotton fabric. The double binding is ivory 100% cotton. The batting is fiberfill. This shadow quilt was applied with Pellon's Wonder Under, machine stitched, machine pieced and hand quilted. It was completed on September 25, 2002. Each design is outlined quilted; the little squares between the pink hearts are 3/4-inch apart. The outside border is quilted with a feather swag, hearts and flowers. There are approximately 300 yards of quilting and approximately 8 stitches per inch. This shadow quilt is adapted from a pillow-top design by Virginia Robertson of Osage County Quilt Works (Kansas). This quilt was a birthday gift for Gary's mother, May.
