This design is the same as a snowball nine-patch or oddball, only the fabric colors are placed differently.
This queen quilt (88" x 106") top is made from red, black and white with gold sparkles 100% cotton. The backing is ivory cotton fabric. The double binding is hunter cotton. The batting is fiberfill. It is machine pieced and hand quilted. It was completed in March 2001. Double squares are quilted in the white center blocks with an outline boarder ¼ from the edge. The nine-patch is quilted in an outline stitch around the ivory block. The border is quilted with lines that flow from the pointed edges of the cane blocks. This quilt has 125 yards of quilting at 6 stitches per inch which is 2 linear yards of quilting per square foot.
