Design Shapes - 45° Diamond

Blazing Star   Lone Star

The above quilts are made from 45° diamonds which are easy to make using a rotary cutter and strip piecing. Using 3 inch strips, one of these quilts can be made in an evening. The blazing star has small stars over the pillow and in each corner. The lone star is more traditional and gives lots of plain space for fancy quilting.

Broken Star   Broken Star

The broken star is an adaptation of the traditional lone star. The squares give excellent places to quilt or to add applique blocks. The quilt on the left has over 2000 small 1½ inch diamonds.

Starburst   Starburst

The starburst is an adaptation of the traditional lone star. The quilt to the left is the first quilt I ever made and it is set on the diagonal which makes it more of a challenge, the edge of the starburst is edged with a border print. The quilt on the right is not on the diagonal and triangles are placed in the corners which makes it a much easier quilt to piece.
