These are examples of Irish Chain blocks. I call the upper left design the criss-cross Irish chain. The upper right has a smaller plain using a patterned fabric area between the chains. The light colors of the center of the chain bring the dark color around the square into dominance for an interesting effect. The lower right uses pale fabrics at the edges of the chain which gives a soft, ethereal effect.
